Assessment and Planning
Before starting the construction, the Kennedy Contracting team assessed the condition of the old retaining wall, which had collapsed due to water pressure from a nearby stream. We thoroughly inspected the site to plan the best approach for removing the damaged wall and constructing a new one. Special care was taken to account for the stream’s impact on the structure’s foundation.
Site Preparation and Water Management
To prepare the site, we first removed the old, crumbling retaining wall. Since the wall was located near a small, slow-moving stream, we also ensured water was managed efficiently by diverting it as necessary to prevent any disruption during the construction process. Once the area was clear, we began prepping the foundation for the new wall.
Foundation and Structural Reinforcement
With the site cleared, we focused on establishing a robust foundation that would provide lasting support. This included reinforcing the base with concrete and installing drainage solutions to help manage the weight of the soil behind the wall. Proper reinforcement was essential to prevent the new structure from suffering the same fate as the old one.
Retaining Wall Construction
After the foundation was secured, we began building the new retaining wall.
